Building a Simple Daily Routine

Hosted by Maple ๐Ÿพ

Dogs thrive on predictability, and a simple daily rhythm helps reduce anxiety and behavioral issues. Aim for consistent wake-up, feeding, and walk times โ€” dogs have an excellent internal clock and will often start anticipating (and calming down around) a routine within a couple of weeks.

Build in at least one real walk or active play session daily for physical exercise, plus some form of mental stimulation like a puzzle feeder, training session, or sniff-focused walk, since mental tiredness matters as much as physical. Consistent bedtime routines โ€” a last potty break, a calm wind-down period โ€” help dogs settle for the night more easily.

If your schedule varies day to day, try to keep the big anchors (first meal, last walk) roughly consistent even if the exact time shifts, since dogs adapt well to flexible-but-predictable patterns.
